Game Programmer

AARON ZHOU

I’m a programmer who loves working with Unreal Engine and C++. I enjoy building immersive gameplay mechanics, tools, and bring ideas to life.         I have cross-pipeline knowledge, from modelling to materials, and I’ve built tools in Unreal and Maya to make their process smoother. I’m always learning and exploring new tech to push my skills further.

My Latest Work (In Progress)

First Person Shooter (Unreal C++)

  • Currently implementing a local dedicated server using Unreal’s replication system

  • Planned features include an inventory system with UI for ammo pickups and a weapon system

  • A simple game menu with options like Start Game and Choose Map is also in progress

Narrative Game Jam Project

(Unity)

This project was developed during a game jam, focusing on player–NPC interaction and narrative-driven gameplay.
My goal was to create a smooth and immersive dialogue experience, where conversations feel responsive through visuals, sound, and player choice.

First Person Action

(Unreal Blueprint)

This was my first Unreal Engine project, and i was inspired by the game Dishonored. I was fascinated by the unique supernatural powers, and I wanted to experiment with creating my own versions of those abilities. The project became a playground for bringing my own ideas to life.

2D Digging Game (C++)

This was my very first school game project, it was built as a small team. Although it began as a six-person project, our group eventually shrank to three active contributors, but together we still managed to design and finish the game from scratch. The process was both challenging and rewarding, from brainstorming ideas to turning a simple moving block into a fully playable digging game. Seeing the project evolve step by step was really addictive.
